Post 16 Options
Deciding what to study after your GCSE’s and where needs careful thought. The film below gives an overview of your options. At Torquay Academy, we offer a range of A level and Level 3 vocational qualifications. Please see our sixth form page for details. The Apprenticeship and T Level tabs on the website give further information about these options.
All Year 11 students will have a 1 to 1 meeting with Mrs Silvey to discuss options, and Mrs Jukes and our partners CSW offer additional support for SEND students. To arrange a careers 1:1 meeting, please contact careers@tqacademy.co.uk
University
Choosing whether to go to university or not, which subject to study and then where to study it is a vital part of determining your post 16 career path. Our sixth form team are here to help you, and the following sites can provide you with more information.

Apprenticeships
An apprenticeship is a paid job which offers hands-on work experience alongside off-the-job training. Apprenticeships are for anyone above the age of 16 who isn’t in full-time education. There isn’t an age limit but they’re normally aimed at 16-24 year olds. Starting an apprenticeship is an alternative pathway to going into the sixth form or college at 16, or going onto university at 18.
The following sites will give you more information about apprenticeships at both 16 and 18. If you need more information, please contact careers@tqacademy.co.uk
