Financial Assistance
We offer financial assistance in a number of ways:
Free School Meals
The value of Free School Meals (FSMs) for 2024-25 is £3. Your child can use this allowance to order a hot meal, as above, or to choose what they want on an ad hoc basis. They will not be allowed to spend over this limit unless additional funds are added to the account.

Uniform
There is a well stocked quality second hand uniform bank at Torquay Academy and parents and carers are welcome to have any items from the stock for a small donation. The second hand uniform is available in the Reception area of the academy.
Parents of children with Free School Meals can apply for a uniform grant by completing the form below and returning it to the school. Please note that the only items that can be purchased through the uniform grant are the school blazer and the school tie when the child first starts at Torquay Academy.
Trips/Visits/Activities & Music Lessons
Financial support is available for individual music lessons and support with trips or other activities. Up to 50% of the cost of events will be funded by the school providing eligibility rules apply. We ask that the financial assistance form is completed for each request for support as this also acts as acceptance of any charges that you will have to contribute. The form can be found below or please contact the Pastoral Team via email pastoral@TQacademy.co.uk to have one sent home with your child.
At Torquay Academy we recognise the positive contribution learning a musical instrument can bring to our students but also realise that cost can be a significant barrier. In order to make lessons accessible to all we heavily subsidise the cost of lessons.
For children on Free School Meals, the price of instrumental lessons is reduced further. Details of the costs of peripatetic music lessons are available on the termly email sent to all parents from the music department.
