Combined Cadet Force (CCF)
What it is:
The Combined Cadet Force (CCF) is a very big part of the extracurricular offer for students from Year 8. We have close to 200 students/cadets who regularly take part in the Wednesday parade after school and enjoy some of the amazing opportunities that are available to us through these military connections. We currently have an Army and RAF section. In addition to the activities mentioned in Adventure Academy the CCF also offers:
Military Training Skills:
On a regular Wednesday night, cadets take part in various activities including, but not limited to, command tasks, communication and leadership skills, survival, bush craft, first aid, navigation and drills.
Weapons Training:
We have access to and regularly train with various weapons systems including air rifles, paintball and the L98A2 Cadet GP rifle.
Flying:
The RAF section get regular flights in gliders and fixed wing propeller aircraft used by the RAF.
Camps:
Both the RAF and Army sections regularly go away and stay on military bases for various type of training. These includes an initial training camp; learning the basics of field craft, to the higher levels of leadership courses delivered by the Cadet Training Teams around the Country.
The benefits of joining:
The Combined Cadet Force (CCF) at Torquay Academy offers a unique opportunity for secondary age children to develop essential life skills in a supportive environment. By joining the CCF, students gain numerous benefits, including enhanced leadership abilities, improved teamwork, and increased self-confidence. Participation in various activities not only fosters a sense of responsibility but also encourages physical fitness and resilience.
