Year 11 Prom, Celebration Evenings & Year 5 Taster Days

Listen

Year 11 Prom

On Thursday evening the Year 11 Prom took place at the Livermead Cliff Hotel.  This is a fitting and lovely way to celebrate their incredible efforts this year.  We look forward to seeing them next Wednesday for their 6th Form induction day.  All of the pictures can be seen on our Facebook page when they are uploaded on Monday.

Celebration Evenings

Year 8s with Governor, Mr Westwood

Year 7s with Governor, Mrs Porter.

We held our Year 7 and 8 celebration evenings this week.  Certificates and badges were handed out to students for their achievements this year.  Over 50 students were invited to attend each of the evenings and they received a variety of awards.  There were recognitions of the top performers in all subject areas, form superstars , excellent attendance, star readers and maximum effort in all subjects.  You can find all of the pictures from the evenings on our Facebook page.

Year 5 Taster Days

This week saw more primary schools in for their taster days.  The whole experience was exceptional with students having  lessons in Technology, Science, Music, Art, Drama and PE which they really enjoyed.  Staff and students then tucked in to lunch before the last lesson.  We have had excellent feedback from the students who came and we look forward to hopefully welcoming many of them back as TA students in 2018.

Athletics Success

Torquay Academy took part in the annual South Devon Athletics Championships at Exeter Arena on Wednesday. They competed in very hot conditions in a variety of track and field events including relays. There were some excellent performances on the day against 16 other schools, with a special mention going to our gold medal winners Emma Harrison in the 800m and Ellis Knowles in the high jump. Barton Sports Day

On Friday, a group of our Sports Representatives from Years 7-12 helped to run Sports Day for Barton Hill Academy on our field.   Under the guidance of Sixth Form students Bailey Clarke, Charlie Mares, Eleanor Nixon, Eloise Jackson and Elysse Leech, our young leaders set up, ran and scored different events. They were required to work in small groups with leaders from different year groups so that they not only experienced the realities of setting up and running sports events, but also working closely with other sports leaders. These children were a credit to the school and carried out their duties with maturity, professionalism and enthusiasm, so well done to all – Ella Squibb, Poppy Bell, Hannah Mabbutt, Ollie Mellitt, Jordan Saunders, Matty Leighton, Jack Manley, Spencer Artz, Daisy Poole-Crampton, Myah Brett-Wilson, Georgia Davies, Jamie Watson, Tom Huitema, Ellie Mitchell, Emma Harrison, Ryan Johns Kouadio, Ben Aldous, Sam Rees, Cameron Smith, Harrison Lee, Rhyanna Lewis and Eva Hunt
