New Sixth Form induction
On Thursday and Friday, we were delighted to be able to welcome back to school our Year 11s for their Sixth Form induction. They were given an overview of life in the Sixth Form as well as taster sessions in the subjects that they have chosen. We look forward to seeing next at the Prom, results day and then in September!
Year 9 Product Design
The Year 9s have been making great progress in their GCSE Product Design this week by working on their laminated plywood salad servers. They all produced quality designs that were inspired by nature.
Year 7 Maths
We have been formally introducing alegbra to the year 7s this term and it is not all abstract!
Mental Health support for September
This week I meet the inspirational Tom Chapman from the Lions Club. In September 2015 Tom founded The Lions Barber Collective, which started as a group of international barbers raising awareness for suicide prevention. It has developed to become much more and now campaigns for the awareness of mental wellbeing and suicide prevention as well. We will be working with Tom from September to support our SIxth Form and we will be introducing a new set of lessons for our students to support them and their peers. I will write much more about this next year.
Gold Lunch
Dr Hocking and Mr Jones had fish and chips with our Year 7 students who achieved gold effort in the last quarter. We are all very proud of their hard work and commitment to their studies.
Netball Academy
The Year 7, 8 and 9 Netball Academies are training hard in preparation for their upcoming netball fixtures this term! Miss Lewis is so pleased to see so many of you at training.
Year 8 Athletics
Torquay Academy’s year 8 Athletics team had a strong start to the season on Thursday night. They travelled to Churston Grammar School for the inter-school athletics meet. All boys and girls competed in one track, one field and a relay. TA produced some outstanding performances for their first competition so well done to all involved.
