A carol & amazing Christmas Assembly performances

Listen

A Magical Christmas Recording – Hark!

You have to watch this!  Our Performing Arts Academy has been operating in year group bubbles this year.  Charlotte Robinson, our Director of the Performing Arts Academy, put together this recording and video of the Year 8-11 students singing Hark! – it is a beautiful example of just how amazing our boys and girls are.  You can see a number of the year group performances under the year group assemblies below, be sure to watch the Year 7 Annie recording which they are rehearsing at the moment.

Christmas Jumper Day for the local food bank

Every year we support our local charities in their appeal to help local families for whom Christmas is a difficult time.  On Tuesday, we had a Christmas jumper mufti day where staff and students brought in an item of food that was donated to Riviera Life Church, a group that supports the local community in times of need.  Torquay Academy students and staff surpassed their efforts last year in terms of donations and getting into the Christmas spirit.

Traffic was brought to a halt on Barton Road as passers-by waved to TA’s very own Santa and his two not-so-little-helpers!

Jordan, who supports the school in many ways told me “on behalf of Riviera Life Storehouse I wanted to say a massive thank you to the staff and students of Torquay Academy for the very generous food collection. The hundreds of tins, pasta, rice, treats and more will make a huge difference in the lives of families all across Torbay. Throughout 2020 we have distributed over 1,400 food parcels equating to over 40,000 meals and this Christmas we have 100 hampers to put together. Your collection will go straight to those who without this support would go hungry this holiday time. Thank you!”

Another Rainbow over TA!

There was a lovely rainbow this week outside E5 and 7T6 English got very excited and it then turned into a double rainbow.

Year 7 Art

Year 7 have had lots of festive fun this week in Mrs Lynch’s art lessons. The students have been looking at bauble design from the 1950’s, and have taken inspiration and ideas to develop their own unique bauble designs.
The students have explored symmetry and colour mixing in their artwork. The final designs were cut out, stuck onto cards and taken home. Mrs Lynch was delighted with the students’ engagement and enthusiasm for the project.
