AIMS OF THE PSHE DEPARTMENT

To cover the key areas of Health & Wellbeing, Relationships and Living in the Wider World:

  1. Students know how to keep themselves healthy and safe.
  2. Students will recognise the positive and negative relationships in their life.
  3. Students will be confident in making career decisions and understand their place and contribution to the community.

OVERVIEW OF KEY STAGE 3 CURRICULUM

We follow the curriculum set out by the PSHE association.  We cover the major topic areas of Health & Wellbeing, Relationships and Living in the Wider World.  These are then built upon in KS4 in age appropriate ways resulting in a spiral curriculum.

Relationships covers positive friendships, bullying, unsafe relationships, relationships values, marriage, parenting, consent and how to safely engage in relationships online.

Living in the wider world covers economic well being, career pathways, career choices, GCSE options, work experience, digital literacy, media literacy, young people’s rights in the community and social issues such as extremism & radicalisation.
