What will I study?

The Eduqas level 1/2 Vocational award in Performing Arts qualification is designed to give students an experience that focuses on applied learning. Here’s what you can expect to cover:

Putting Theory into Practice:

  • This qualification is not just about learning the theory behind acting, directing, or other performing arts aspects. It heavily emphasises applying that knowledge in practical settings.

Exploring Different Areas:

  • The course encompasses three main areas: Performing, Creating, and Performing Arts in Practice. This ensures students gain a well-rounded understanding, from performing existing pieces to creating their own and exploring the practicalities of bringing those works to life.

Developing Practical Skills:

  • To hone acting skills like character development, vocal techniques, and movement.

Collaboration is Key:

  • Since performing arts are inherently collaborative, expect to work with your peers. You'll learn teamwork, communication, and how to effectively contribute to a production as a whole.

Real-World Projects:

  • The "applied learning" focus involves projects that simulate real-world scenarios. You will create multiple performance pieces.

Performance Opportunities:

  • The chance to showcase your learned skills through performances.

Industry Insights:

  • Guest speakers or workshops from industry professionals, giving you valuable insights into working in the performing arts.

By combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience, this qualification aims to equip you with a strong foundation in performing arts and prepare you for further study or even a career in this exciting field.
